Most of you know that my wife Carole has had a brain tumor for many years. Her prayer upon diagnosis in 1996 was that she be allowed to raise our three sons, who were then only 1, 3 and 5 years of age. Mark, the youngest is now 16 years old, so God has granted that wish. Carole took a turn for the worse in late March and is now bedbound at home. She has lost most of her short-term memory, but still enjoys reading, especially her Bible. I request your prayers for our family, and especially Carole's parents, since Carole is their only child. I am cutting back on the ministry for now, so this may be the last newsletter for a while.

Age of the earth

The age of the earth has been a topic of debate among Christians over the last two centuries. Several Christian ministries promote the idea that the earth is less than 10,000 years old, which they say comes from the Bible. In reality, the Bible makes no claim as to the age of the earth, although it does establish a minimum age. This page examines some of the history of the controversy—what the Bible actually says and does not say—and the scientific evidence surrounding the age of the earth. More...

Sanctity of human life

"After birth abortion"

Two medical "ethicists" (Alberto Giubilini and Francesca Minerva) from Australia have pronounced that infanticide (killing babies) should be allowed as a form of "after birth abortion." Their logic is that since abortion is allowed in virtually all cases, and since babies are no more developed than late term fetuses, that killing infants should be allowed for an unspecified period of time after birth, subject to the whim of the mother. Although your initial reaction may be shock, the doctors' conclusions follow logically from arguments commonly made in favor of unrestricted abortion. This page will examine those arguments and why it follows logically that if abortion is allowed for any reason, then infanticide should be allowed, also. Before you email me, please also note that I believe those arguments are fatally flawed, invalidating both infanticide and abortion. More...

Prolife atheist

You probably never thought that I would have an article on the website written by an atheist. However, Patrick Ptomey is different from most atheists in that he has really thought about the abortion question and has rejected standard abortion ideology. According to Patrick, "my pro-life beliefs belong to the discoveries in science. While I am sympathetic to women's rights and would even consider myself a Feminist as would any man who believes in gender equality, the right to life outweighs our personal discomforts. I will hesitantly concede that had I been born 10 years earlier I most likely would have considered myself pro-choice based upon the absence of scientific evidence within the pro-life movement at the time. More so, if science had proven that life began at birth I would have had no foundation for an anti-abortion belief. Thankfully for the pro-life movement, science has reemphasized the movement's argument that abortion takes the life of an unborn child." More...

Those are the most recent updates and changes since the last e-mail update. If you would like to see anything in particular at Evidence for God from Science, let me know. "But now ask the beasts, and let them teach you; And the birds of the heavens, and let them tell you. Or speak to the earth, and let it teach you; And let the fish of the sea declare to you. Who among all these does not know That the hand of the LORD has done this, In whose hand is the life of every living thing, And the breath of all mankind? Does not the ear test words, As the palate tastes its food?" (Job 12:7-11)
