Who Made God?

Who Made God"Who made God?" is the standard question of the new atheists. However, Edgar Andrews' latest book, Who made God? Searching for a theory of everything, is not another cynical atheistic diatribe. Although Andrews has a pile of initials after his name (BSc, PhD, DSc, FInstP, FIMMM, CEng, CPhys), he is a witty, engaging author and theologian, in addition to scientist. Although Andrews takes on the new atheists, the main thrust of Who made God? is an apologetic of how the Bible fits into modern science (or how the Bible predicted the discoveries of modern science). Much of the book is quite witty, although some of it is understated, so you need to pay attention. More...

Answers for atheists

Was Jesus God?

Since I have used Google Adwords in the past, they are always trying to get me to buy more ads. So, I ended up with two $100 coupons, which I used to advertise GodAndScience. Their advertising tools suggest related phrases, one of which was "Was Jesus God?" It is a popular search phrase, and one that is addressed on the site, but scattered over multiple pages. So, I put together a page that examines Christianity's claim that Jesus is God. The page examines the evidence for the deity of Jesus from the Bible, rabbinical writings, and secular sources. In addition, the page presents the miracles of Jesus and His resurrection as evidence for Jesus' divinity. More...

People are good?

People are Basically Good?I gave a talk at Paradoxes Sunday School Class in July on the atheist myth that people are basically good. The talk covers the psychology experiments of Stanley Milgram, Jerry Burger, and Philip Zimbardo, who showed that normal people will do evil things when directed to do so. The talk also examines many of the prominent examples of  evil committed against humanity during the last 50 years. Yes, the Bible is correct when it states that the heart of human beings is "deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked." More...

Christian theology

What is Christianity?

Another popular Google search phrase is "What is Christianity?" Although we tend to take it for granted that everybody knows what Christianity is, there are many people throughout the world who know little or nothing about Christianity. The emphasis of this page is on Christianity as as more than just a religion, but as a relationship with the living God, Jesus Christ. Ultimately, Christians should not be known as the "no" people, but as the people who love God and care for other people. More...

Abortion

Pro-choice is anti-science

Saving LeonardoGuest author Nancy Pearcey examines the science behind the abortion question. Now is the time to make the case that it’s the pro-abortion stance that is actually anti-science. In the past, abortion supporters simply denied that the fetus is human: “It’s just a blob of tissue.” Today, however, due to advances in genetics and DNA, virtually no ethicist denies that the fetus is human—biologically, genetically, physiologically human. Even the arch-radical Peter Singer acknowledges that “the life of a human organism begins at conception." More...

Design vs. Evolution

Creation implies God?

Guest author Dr. Dennis Bonnette has written an article that examines the philosophical arguments of why the creation implies the existence of God. An especially prominent problem for atheists is there is something instead of nothing. Without the existence of God, one would logically expect that there should be nothing at all, which, of course, is contrary to the observational evidence. The atheists' response that the universe created itself is logically unsatisfying. More...

Aberrant theology

Adventists' shut-door

Former Seventh Day Adventist and current Wycliffe Bible translator Wesley Ringer has written a 227 page paper (book?) on Ellen White (the founder of Adventism) and Adventists' "shut-door" theology. Like a certain modern "prophet" of late, William Miller had predicted that Jesus Christ would return in 1843. After his prophetic failure, Miller realized he had accounted for an extra year between 1 BC and 1 AD, extending his prediction to 1844 (although 5 of his "proofs" did not fall under this error). Along with the idea that Jesus would return was the claim that the door of salvation had been shut to sinners in 1844. The view was prevalent until 1851, when it was abandoned. Mr. Ringer presented this paper to the 1982 Southern California Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, for which he was promptly excommunicated from the Adventist Church. However, the experience led Mr. Ringer on a quest to understand the Bible more deeply, eventually leading him to become a full-time Bible translator in Africa. More...

Those are the most recent updates and changes since the last e-mail update. If you would like to see anything in particular at Evidence for God from Science, let me know. "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." (Matthew 22:37-40)
