Thank you for your prayers regarding my wife Carole's driving privileges. The reviewer restored her driving privileges and admitted that the suspension had been a "mistake." Thank you also for your prayers for Bridget, our friend who had suffered a serious seizure at work. The surgery on her salivary gland tumor went well and she is fine now.

Creation Conference - Who is the Designer?

The Reasons To Believe "Who is the Designer" creation conference went extremely well and was well attended. It was good to see some of you, whom I only get to see at these conferences. I worked quite a bit at the book table and had a number of good conversations about God's creation. I encourage the rest of you to attend next time, since there is always good information and good fellowship at these conferences.

Design vs. Evolution

I am in the process of converting the Origin of Man and the Races PowerPoint presentation to HTML format. In addition to the slide text and images, each slides has a detailed description of the concepts, definitions, and documentation of references. The process is about two-thirds done, but I thought you might want to get a head start.

Aberrant Theology

This year for my lecture at the Center for Research in the Sciences (CRIS) at Azusa Pacific University, I will be presenting "Testing the Mormon Creation Model." The lecture will examine Mormon doctrines regarding the creation and the nature of God and man in light of modern science. I hope to have a preliminary presentation by the next newsletter. The lecture is scheduled for Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. More information can be found at the link below.

Biblical Creation

People are fascinated with dinosaurs. In fact, modern society is obsessed with these extinct creatures and their bizarre appearances. Our fascination with these creatures has led to the idea that they should have been included in the biblical creation account. A recent e-mail from a skeptic made this very claim - that the Bible couldn't have been written by an all-knowing God, since He would have not left out of the account a description of dinosaurs. Some updates have been made to the Biblical Defense of Long Creation Days page. One common criticism of the day-age interpretation is that the Hebrew word yom combined with an ordinal (number) always refers to a 24 hour day. The claim is nullified by a passage from the prophet Zechariah, who refers to the day of the Lord using the ordinal "one" with yom in a context that indicates a period of time no less than six months long. Another claim is that Jesus believed in 24 hour creation days, since "He said that marriage began at the beginning of the creation according to Mark 10:6." An examination of the passage indicates that Jesus was not referring to the beginning of the creation at all, but to the beginning of the creatures Adam and Eve.
