The descriptions from Genesis indicate that man is both a new creation and at least partially based upon a previous design. Genesis 2:7 indicates that man was formed from the "dust of the ground" - indicating creation was based upon pre-existing material. What was the nature of this "dust?" It could refer to creation based upon a previously-used body plan or genetic design.
