Opinion on abortion is nearly equally split in the United States. However, only about half of the population feels strongly in the issue. Those who have no emotional involvement in issue are more likely to examine the issues rationally and make decisions on the basis of a logical examination of the facts. The success of such a strategy can be seen in the Gallup abortion poll of 2009. In this poll, opinions have shifted such that 51% of respondents now say they are prolife, compared with 42% who say they are prochoice.
